SBI soars 3.7%

State Bank of India soared 3.7 percent to Rs 206.35 on BSE on reports the bank is considering a proposal to hive off its stressed-loan portfolio into a separate company.

Meanwhile, the S&P BSE Sensex was up 280.87 points or 1.05 percent at 27,058.32.

Sensex closes above 27000 for 1st time since Oct 2015; SBI up 5%

Market has ended with hefty gains. The Sensex ended above 27000 for first time since October 2015. The 30-share index ended up 232.22 points or 0.9 percent at 27009.67,and the Nifty  was up 65.40 points or 0.8 percent at 8266.45. About 1480 shares have advanced,1128 shares declined, and 160 shares are unchanged.

BULLION

Gold August and Silver July futures are down 0.2 percent in early trade each at $ 1,245.40 and $ 16.431, respectively.Platinum July contract has moved down 0.3 percent at $ 995.15.

ENERGY

Crude Oil July and Brent Oil August series have declined 0.3-0.4 percent each at $ 49.53 and $ 50.35, respectively.Natural Gas July contract has shed 0.5 percent at $ 2.434.

BASE METAL

Copper July delivery is quoted at $ 2.113 - down 0.2 percent.
